RACHA ISLANDS PRIVATE BOAT TOUR
The Racha Islands are just 20 kilometres south of Phuket, making them a great choice of destination for a one-day trip. We have an enjoyable itinerary already prepared if you would like to book one of our full-day tours of the islands but we’re more than happy to put together a special itinerary just for you if you’d like to do something a little different or spend longer exploring the local seas.
The two islands are called Koh Racha Yai and Koh Racha Noi. Yai means big and Noi means small in Thai so you can guess which one is the bigger of the two! They are separated by just over 7 kilometres of the Andaman Sea, with Koh Racha Yai being the nearest to Phuket. A private boat Racha Islands tour departing from Phuket will therefore reach the larger island first and many may go no further. Most of the activities you may wish to try, and all of the accommodation in the Racha Islands, can be found only on Racha Yai.
A DAY ON A PRIVATE YACHT
PHUKET TO RACHA
ISLANDS AND BACK
As we mentioned earlier, we have a delightful one-day itinerary prepared for visitors who would like to spend a day checking out the Racha Islands before heading back to their accommodation on Phuket. You should allow around 7 or 8 hours for the whole trip, depending on the conditions, and there’s no need to worry about transportation as we can arrange for you to be picked up from your hotel, and dropped off at the end of the day of course. If you are thinking of planning your very first private boat charter, Racha Islands is a great destination in our opinion. And because it’s quite close to Phuket, you can easily fit such a trip into your holiday here.

KOH RACHA YAI
Apart from those working in the tourist trade, most of the inhabitants of Koh Racha Yai are either farmers or fishermen. As mentioned above, it is on this island that you will find all of the available holiday accommodation, with several decent hotels and a good selection of private bungalows for rent. If you’re planning to charter a private boat to Racha Islands from Phuket then perhaps head over to the Phi Phi Islands and further afield, Koh Racha Yai could be a convenient place to stop off for a night and enjoy the local cuisine. If you’re only going for a day trip, the accommodation will be of little interest to you but it’s worth noting that The Racha, a luxury resort on the main beach (Ao Tawan Tok), has a beachfront restaurant that is the perfect place for a spot of lunch. In addition to the beautiful, powdery white beaches, from which many visitors choose to snorkel or scuba dive, Koh Racha Yai has some nice areas for a peaceful hike too, with interesting flora and fauna along the way.
KOH RACHA NOI
Many of our yacht charter Racha Islands clients like to visit Koh Racha Noi as well. It might not seem like an obvious place to head at first glance, with no accommodation or much in the way of facilities, but it boasts some of the best fishing spots in the area, so is popular with keen anglers. It also offers experienced scuba divers some more challenging dive sites than can be found in the waters off Koh Racha Yai.
